Saad - BIO

John Saad is Managing Director of Green from Black Technologies Pty Ltd, based in Melbourne, Australia.

John brings 50 years of experience in chemical applications across commercial, technical, and leadership roles. Most recently, he spent 17 years as Managing Director of CHT Australia Pty Ltd, part of Germany's CHT Group, where he led the development of a patented siloxane chemistry that influences hydraulic conductivity in clay and sandy loam soils common in Australian agriculture.

This technology has resulted in productive collaborations with DPI NSW, La Trobe University, University of Adelaide, and Griffith University, with several commercial projects now utilizing the innovation.

In partnership with Professor Stephen Joseph AM, John recently developed a second patent for the mineralization of graphitic substances, which can be used as a concrete enhancer and as a cation exchange capacitor in industrial chemical processes.

Prior to CHT, John spent 14 years with National Starch & Chemical, a division of Unilever and ICI PLC, progressing through various commercial and marketing roles to become Business Head of the Bondmaster Division. He began his career with 12 years at Campbell Brothers Limited, focusing on commercial, technical, and engineering aspects of industrial cleaning chemical applications.

John's half-century of experience across the chemical industry provides him with comprehensive insight into chemical processes and practical problem-solving—expertise he now applies through Green from Black Technologies and its partners.
